VHF Ch 9
|July 14-15, 2018|

This is a great trip for those just starting out cruising. Stratford is located almost directly across the LI Sound from Mt. Sinai, between Bridgeport to the west and Milford to the east.
The fleet will be meeting up just outside Mt. Sinai Harbor at 10:00 AM, and leaving soon after. Fly the club burgee from your mast. We will be monitoring VHF channel 68, so please check in as we depart to the Brewer Stratford Marina. Our trip should take 3 to 4 hours. Green can “1” marks the entrance to the Housatonic River. A well marked channel winds it’s way to Brewer Marina located on the west shore at can “19”.
Brewer monitors VHF channel 9, so be sure to hail them with enough time to get your slip assignment. High tide is at 1:08 PM, beware that flood and ebb tides on the Housatonic can run up to 3 kts.
You must reserve a slip for this cruise, Stratford is one of the most popular cruises our club does, so we suggest you make your reservation early. Brewer books only through Dockwa, in the special requests area, mention you are with the MSSA. (FYI - Dockwa’s cancelation policy is: 72 hours’ notice) If you need to speak with someone at the marina, call 203-377-4477.
Like most Brewer Marinas, the Brewer Stratford Marina is a first-class operation. The dockhands are helpful and will deliver ice to your boat at your request. They have a great pool and a tent area perfect for our Cruisers’ Party. The restrooms and showers are very clean and private. This Brewer also has a restaurant on the property called “Outriggers” and offers spectacular views of the Housatonic River.
The Cruisers’ Party will begin at 4:00 PM at the covered patio area; remember its BYO drinks. Please call or email, to let us know if you will be joining us at Stratford so we can properly plan a Cruisers’ Party.
