Please Contact Supervisor Foley Print E-mail
March 08 2007
ImageAt the Mt. Sinai Harbor Advisory Committee Meeting on March 5, we heard a rather bleak presentation by Brookhaven Town Public Safety about the dire need for greater security presence at our parks and marinas.  Basically, the Brookhaven Town budget needs to be beefed up to provide for more cars and more staff to provide round-the-clock security presence at Mt. Sinai Harbor.  With all the $$$ that's currently being spent to improve the harbor, the $$$ will basically be thrown away if we don't physically protect the harbor and its improvements.

With this in mind, it is important that each of us in the MSSA personally contact Brookhaven Town Superevisor, Brian Foley, via email and express to him who you are and why you feel $$$$$ in this year's budget needs to be allocated for security to preserve Mt. Sinai Harbor.

Please go to www.brookhaven.org and click on the "register" button.  You will quickly have to set up a profile.  Once you do that you will be able to send an email to the Supervisor.

Dear Sup. Foley,
I write at this time to ask for your help in allocating more money and support for security at Mt. Sinai Harbor.

As Commodore of the Mt. Sinai Sailing Association (MSSA) and a member of the Mt. Sinai Harbor Advisory Committee, I am acutely aware of the fragile nature of the jewel that is Mt. Sinai Harbor and the whole Cedar Beach complex.

At our most recent harbor advisory meeting on March 5, we were made aware of this dire need for staff and equipment by two representatives from Town Public Safety.  They are doing their best with the meager resources that are currently available but quite frankly are unable to provide round the clock presence at Mt. Sinai with the current plan.

Millions of dollars are being spent to improve the harbor complex and for that we are truly grateful and thankful, but these funds will be squandered if we don't provide necessary security to protect all these improvements.

Thanks for your attention to this matter and I would be happy to further discuss my concerns with a member of your staff should you so desire.

Again, thank you.
