We will be taking you for an adventure to the Norwalk Islands and the Sheffield Island lighthouse. We will most likely anchor just NW of Sheffield Island, a federal wildlife refuge that is home to several species of birds and a nature walk. We will dinghy ashore for our beach cocktail party. Weather permitting; the lighthouse is open for guided history tours Sat/Sun for a small donation. Directions: Once past the Green #11 off Mt Misery Shoal, the course is 295 o magnetic for ~17 NM to Red #28 off Sheffield Island. Then 320 o magnetic for ~1/2 mile across Greens Ledge to Red #2A. Then 70 o for ~1 NM to an anchorage (~13 ft depth) behind Sheffield island. This is near Ram Bay on your chart. If there is too much chop/wind from the SW we can cross over to anchor near Noroton Point for the night. Aside from the nature aspect of this cruise, the City of Norwalk with its’ aquarium, restaurants, Imax theater and visitors dock is approx 4 NM up the channel. Top all this off with the traditional beach cocktail party and a trip that is often an informal race and it will be a memorable time for all who attend. You can call the Norwalk Seaport Association at 203 838-9444 or the Maritime Aquarium at 203 8520-0700, or even Shenanigan’s Nite Club at 203 853-0142 for nighttime entertainment. For those that want to spend an extra day or two before returning, it’s a short hop across the Sound to Northport or Huntington harbors.
