Welcome to the MSSA!
The Mount Sinai Sailing Association is a non-profit Long Island Sound Sailing organization dedicated to affordable family cruising, racing, and social interaction among sailing enthusiasts in the area of Mount Sinai Harbor, Long Island, NY. The Association was founded in 1975 and now includes more than one hundred and fifty families. Most members own sailboats which are moored or docked in Mount Sinai Harbor, but membership is open to anyone interested in sailing on the Long Island Sound, regardless of boat ownership. Yearly activities include raft-ups, beach parties, cruises, and races during the sailing season. There are also monthly meetings and social activities in the off season.

The Fall 3 scores resulted in some noteworthy points that need mentioning. 'B' and 'D' Divisions had no boats that finished. According to our Sailing Instructions (page 34, paragraph O-3), if no boat from its respective Division has crossed the finish line within the time limit, the race will be considered abandoned. I believe that means that for these two Divisions (B and D) the Fall Series has just become the best two out of three races, and the DNF's due not qualify towards High Point. I also believe that last item only effects Prowler who took a DNF in Fall 3, and still needs one more race to qualify for High Point.
According to our Sailing rules you can be the only boat in your division racing, score a '0', and use it as a qualifying race, but if your the only boat, you must finish within the time limit to have the race count. |

I just added a "Current Conditions" link in the Left Menu that shows curent conditions at the central sound buoy. The NOAA forcast is already there. Now all we need is a web-cam! Check it out |

I'd like to prepare updated scratch sheets for the Fall Series. If you haven't done so already, can you please let me know if you will be participating in any (even one) of the Fall Series races, and if you plan on making sail, Division, or Fleet (spinnaker vs. non-spinnaker) changes. Although we have no requirement to register for series participation, this information will sure make it easier for the Committee boats and the scorer. However, sail, Division and Fleet changes must be submitted prior to the start of these races, which is this Sunday (9/23). |
